Asphalt Art Documentary
What happens when a blank stretch of pavement becomes a canvas for an entire neighborhood? For the Downtown Cleveland Asphalt Art Grant, lead artist Ryan Janke transformed the streets at Prospect, Huron, and East 9th with a massive public art installation that brings fresh energy, movement, and color to Cleveland's Gateway District.
Through the lens of Ryan's creative process, we followed the project from the first ideas to the final brushstrokes, capturing the scale, the collaboration, and the people behind the artwork through timelapse, interviews, and documentary-style storytelling. We also sat down with local artists and community voices to explore what public art can do for a city: create connection, bring people together, and turn the places we move through every day into something worth stopping for.
